Svako dobro vino – a pošip osobito, jer o njemu je ovdje riječ – puno je pametnije i važnije piti, nego opisivati. Ipak, pošip je neokrunjeni kralj bijelih vina Dalmacije, možda i bijelih vina uopće, pa neće biti zgorega i na ovome mjestu popiti koju kap znanja o njegovim osebujnim kvalitetama i plemenitom podrijetlu, kako i priliči okrunjenim glavama. Puno je teorija i priča o tome kad je, kako i odakle je pošip došao na prelijepi dalmatinski otok Korčulu, za koju se drži da je, nedvojbeno, njegova domovina na ovim našim, mediteranskim meridijanima. Kako bilo, knjige kažu da se na Korčuli sorta i vino pošip pod tim imenom spominju tamo od druge polovine 19. stoljeća, dok su ugledni znanstvenici – kojima je ovaj opojni nektar što ga danas s uživanjem pijemo bio uistinu veliki znanstveni i hedonistički izazov – na temelju DNK analize ustvrdili da je potekao s Orijenta i potom na Korčuli bio ponovo rođen kao dragocjeni zlatni plod njenog podneblja, sunca i tla. Navodno je težak iz Smokvice Marin Tomašić Caparin rečeni Barbaca u blizini svog vinograda pronašao samoniklu lozu izraslu iz sjemenke nastale oplodnjom bratkovine bijele i zlatarice blatske – a obje su te sorte, ili bar jedna, doplovile s Orijenta – pa onda prutove sadio u svom vinogradu, dajući i drugim težacima, da bi se ubrzo zajedno uvjerili kako na tim novim trsovima rađa lipota božja. Ostalo je legenda.

S manje legende, ali puno više provjerljive istine protkana je storija o svojevrsnoj „drugoj selidbi“ pošipa; onoj s Korčule u Kaštela, gdje je ta sjajna sorta pronašla dobru zemlju i vridnu, pažljivu ruku koja će je njegovati tako da iznjedri sve ono najbolje od sebe: vino vrhunske harmonije, delikatnog okusa, boje nalik zlatu, primjerenog alkohola, prekrasnog mirisa… Ukratko, pažljivo odabrane i s punim povjerenjem dobijene sadnice pošipa s Korčule su u Kaštela stigle „u naramku“ Ivice Milana koji im je udahnuo novi život pod obroncima Kozjaka, ljuljajući ih kao u koljevci. Izmislio im je posebni „pergola uzgoj“ – podigao lozje visoko, omogućio svakom grozdu hlada baš koliko mu treba i sunca taman koliko mu treba, postigao idealnu insolaciju uz kontrolu zrenja, sladora i budučeg alkohola… Rezultat je – kaštelanski Pošip Milan, vrhunsko vino s kojim se u čaše toči veselje.
Vino se – Božja je zapovid – pravi od grožđa, a grožđe od kojega se pravi naš pošip može s e- od Gospe od Karmela, kad počne sazrijevati – kušati ovdje kod nas, u kući Milanovih. Pa popiti žmul vina. U slast i u zdravlje!

Any good wine – Pošip (Poship) especially because of it is all about – is a lot smarter and more important to drink, than to describe. However, Pošip is the uncrowned King of the white wines of Dalmatia, possibly of the white wines at all. In this place we give you a drop of knowledge about it’s specific qualities and noble origin, as befits the crowned heads. There are many theories and stories about when, how and from where Pošip came to the beautiful Dalmatian island of Korčula. Pošip wine variety undoubtedly originates from the island of Korčula.
The written sources says that Pošip variety and Pošip wine have been mentioned in Korčula from the second half of the 19th century. This nectar, which today we enjoy with pleasure, was truly great scientific challenge as well. The distinguished scientists, based on DNA analysis, discovered that it originated from the Orient and then to the island of Korčula was born again as a precious golden fruit of its climate, sun and soil. Apparentaly a vine yard farmer Mr.Marin Tomašić Caparin called Barbaca from the village Smokvica found near his vine yard growing wild vines. The plant grew out as a result of crossing seeds between the two wine varieties White Bratkovina and Balto’s Zlatarica. Both varieties, or at least one, originated from the Orient. Mr.Tomašić Caparin planted the found plant in his vineyard, in some giving the seedlings to the other vineyard farmes. Soon convinced together that these new vine variety is divine nectar. The rest is a legend.
With less legends, but with much more verifiable truth is a story about the “second migration” of Pošip, that one from Korčula to Kaštela. In Kaštela’s Field this great variety found a good soil and altentive, careful hand that will nurture it so that it will raise all the best from Pošip. The wine of supreme harmony, delicate flavors, golden color, an appropriate alcohol, beautiful fragrance… Carefuly chosen, with full confidence provided Pošip seedlings from Korčula in Kaštela arrived “in a bundle of” Mr.Ivica Milan. Mr.Milan breathed a new life to Pošip under the slopes of Kozjak mountain, nurturing them as the cradle. Mr.Ivica Milan invented a special “pergola cultivation” – raised vineyard high, allow each grape a shade and a sun just how much it needs, achive and ideal insolation with the perfect control of ripening, sugar and future alcohol… The result is – Kaštelanski Pošip Milan, the top wine in wich the glass pours with joy.
There is a commandment of God that wine is made from grapes. Why not try a grape from which Pošip Milan is made. You can enjoy it every year starting from the feast of Our Lady of Carmel (16th of July) when Pošip starts to ripe.
